gaps in surfaces

Hello,

after having done some printing in the last 5 days, my m200 suddenly started to leave gaps in the printed objects (please see pictures...) I then realised that at least one of the fans on the printhead ( the upper one ) and possible the lower one too, are dead.

Since  I urgently need to finish a piece, I switched to the no fan option in the printing options but my prints still are full of these gaps...

can someone possible help me find the reason ?

thank you

Andreas

Replace the extruder cable

I don’t think this is fan related. This looks like the dreaded bad ribbon cable issue. Your feeding stops in certain areas of the platform due to the bending of the cable. Look for the topics related to this.

BTW…the upper fan has to run always…even when you set the fan option to zero. It cools the bridge between the hot end and the stepper. It might be that the fan simply died (which happens a lot) or it could also be that it stopped running as a side effect of the bad cable.

If it is dead you need to replace it ASAP. It’s not good to print without it.

thanks guys, can i repair the cable maybe?

best

Andreas

I think my printer has this same issue now..  I will see if I can fix the cable first.

EDIT: Yep, that was the problem and fixing the cable worked!  I may request a replacement cable though just in case..
