278°C high hotend temperature on boot

Hi.
Immediatly after starting the M200 plus, I have 277-278°C on hotend in “heating controls” even if I did ask nothing (I have tried “on/off” button with no succes). The hotend remains cold in both case.

What I have tried for solving the problem :

  • Factory reset
  • Update to the last firmware : 2.6.15
and because I have lot of spare parts :
  • change the thermocoupler and heater (the resistance on the heater is around 15-16 Ohms)
  • change the PCB Extruder
  • change the ribbon cable between PCB Extruder and motherboard.

Did someone has a suggestion on what I can try ?
Thanks.

Based on your description (cold hotend, consistently high temperature reading), it seems the fault is somewhere in the path between the thermocouple and the MCU on the motherboard.

Since you’ve already replaced all other components in this path except for the motherboard, the issue likely resides there.

On the motherboard, one possible suspect is the filtering capacitor marked as “C46” (A106 - 16V, 10µF). If this capacitor has failed, it could be causing incorrect temperature readings.

You have a few options to resolve this:

  1. If you’re confident with electronics repair, you could try replacing the capacitor or even desoldering it temporarily to see if the readings improve. Removing it might restore correct readings but with some added noise, which might not be noticeable. If this doesn’t help, proceed to step 2.
  2. Contact support to inquire about a motherboard replacement.
  3. Keep searching for other potential issues

Please keep in mind, I’m not an electronics specialist, so proceed with caution, and don’t hold me accountable for any unexpected results!

Thanks for the advice.

I have made the modification and tried to boot without the capacitor but it’s still the same. No changes.

I will contact the support to inquire new motherboard.
Do you have any tips, advices or mail address to contact them easily ? Maybe there are official members of Zortrax support here ?

Thank for the time you have taked to answer me.
