I not new to printing but new to the Zortrax ecosystem and Z-suite. I got a M300 and it prints fine when there is a raft, some stringing issues and stuff like that I’m not too worried about right now. But when I go to print without a raft, the filament does not adhere to the perforated bed. Sometimes it sticks for 1 cm then comes off or just accumulated on the hotend. I dont change any print settings besides raft off and im using z-suite 2.32.0 on a M300 with perforated bed printing in grey Z-PETG. I noticed the first raft layer is much wider than any of the other layers even though the speed and density are the same as the first layer at 100%. Any recommendations on what settings to try or if raft is the only way to print on the M300.
You have to play with parameter ‘first layer gap’
I think you have to lower it to print more close to plate
Hi!
I have this exact issue just like MasterShifu described.
I not only disabled the raft but also transformed the brim into some kind of skirt by putting a 1.5mm offset and reducing the number of perimeters to 4. Im trying to print a benchy to compare this printer’s output to my other ones.
I actually saw the first layer specific settings and I have tried :
- setting bed temperature to 80°C
- lowering first layer height to 0.1 and then even 0.05
- increasing extrusion multiplier to 150% for first layer (because I saw that the rafts first layer is very over-extruded)
- reducing the first layer speed to 40% because the 0.4 mm extruder didnt seem to extrude much more with 150% extrusion (it didnt change much
And all of the above at the same time. I was able to get the skirt to stick but not the actial bottom of the part.
The raft seems to stick to the plate well, but the first few passes look like hige blobs with crazy over-extrusion…
I considered setting the extrusion multiplier to something like 300% to get my first layer to stick but Im afraid that the plastic will droop into the holes of the plate.
Does anyone here have a working profile to print with Z-PETG directly on the bed?
Also, does anyone have tips to fill the holes in the build plate? especially the screw holes !
Thabks in advance
Alexis
the holes in the plate are needed to achive more adesion, if you don’t want them you can buy a IDE plate on ebay without holes.
