zortrax-m200-3D-printer-review-from-make

Open Software?

Open Hardware?

Bridging?

Maybe is it come in self assembly kit?

Is it contest for the best RepRap in the town ?

Support generation and ability to handle 24-48h print this should be taken in the count, bridging is ugly - substitute of real support.

All printers tested with properiatery filament if needed but…

“*Tested with proprietary filament. Zortrax tested with Ultimachine ABS.”

The worst printer ever Makerbot 5th is better than Zortrax? Something is wrong with Makezine tests.

Reviews of disappointed customers:

I ordered full makezine issue in attachment I put list of all printers with scores.

Zortrax with Afinia overtake at 3dhubs.com Ultimaker and Makerbot month after month in quality ranking something is wrong with Makezine, happy mediums together with Ditto (???) printrbot at top of the list, Afinia more down than modified repraps and Ultimaker original wtf?

They didn't even use Z-ABS they used ultimachine abs which people print at 240c as you know

the zortrax runs hot Julia measured it at 280c that's 40c difference that diminishes the quality dramatically.

Man… this is not biased at all… Can’t get over the fact that they did not use ZABS. I imagine the conversation "Damn, the prints with the proper ZABS are far too good…what can we do?.. "

-if your slicer cannot do 0.5mm walls, use XY_resonance_1.0mm_walls.stl

is ‘hard’ to print 0.5mm wall which contain 2x contour then for correct print of it nozzle should have 0.2mm, rubbish test giving possibility to modify result up to which box was picked up. With 0.5mm wall thickness it fail not because of resonance but because of small over extruding at start: 0.5mm is below minimal thickness listed in our specification.

I just printed XY resonance 1.0mm test and it pass perfectly with Z-Ultrat loaded but tomorrow I want to do test with Z-ABS. I don’t know is they used 0.5mm box for testing it or Ultimachine ABS which they loaded caused over extrusion at walls for this test we loosed 2 points.

Overall tests was not done in true default settings because they disabled support generation and loaded Ultimachine ABS ok I can swallow disabled support but if they disable it then fan cooler should be set to 100% I wish they done it. I expected there removable support test with engineering model not bridging, Zortrax was fine tuned over one year for smart support generation leaving bridging in dark days of 3D printing so again -4 points lost and other printers +3+4 earned. Bridging over break away support not professional and not usefull in real life.

‘Happy Medium’ worst description which I heard about Zortrax ever.

I still didn’t printed bridge test with Z-ABS, 100% fan cooler and disabled support.

Best Regards

I think this review from Make has made us all mad since they did not initiate proper testing and have basic knowledge of 3D printing and are not "experts" in the field of 3D printing as stated by them. Their lack of knowledge of printing temps, nozzle diameters, importance of support generation and appreciation for PLA concerns me as well as everyone who reads that stupid article.

And the winners are...... The printers they sell:

That's a Surprise!!!

I wonder if they know what conflict of interests means......?

There have been some coments about the Make inadequate magazine test on Zortrax, on the own magazine website. Dont know who is Anthony but he has taken the challenge to print and show the parts under test, this time with proper material and settings. Would like to see that print tests.

Of Course I'm experienced enough to produce beautiful prints doesn't require much effort though with the Zortrax  ;)
