After trying Crock Pots, deep fryers, and thirty other kinds of containers, I’ve found a $20 asparagus steamer on an electric hot plate is pretty much perfect. Fits tall prints, has a clear lid, and even comes with a mesh basket for lifting smoothed parts.
Can you post some pictures?

cool. if you could mod the basket to to have it's try higher, then i'd be better!
I don't think it can try much harder, but I do think it can have a higher tray ;D
I cannot believe the amount of people who tell me that vaporizing acetone is dangerous, it is unbelievable. "Acetone is extremely flammable and you should not be heating it up" people should not tell me this then complement the models we have smoothed over for shows. I guess some people think they are the first to tell other this information as if it is something only they know about.
I use the same setup but a rice steam cooker , works fantastically
As long as the chamber is not pressure sealed there should be no explosion.

My expert tip for getting the parts done quickly is:
1. place parts into freezer for 10-20 minutes.
2. place cold parts into "cooker" and add acetone to bottom of "cooker".
3. warm bottom of "cooker" till vapor transition.
4. part will become "wet" instantly.
5. average time in "cooker" 3 - 5 minutes.
6. rotate "cooker" to allow the parts to stir the vapor (place on a "lazy Susan").
7. remove parts from "cooker" (careful not to touch)
8. let parts stand in front of fan for a 5 -10 minutes to "dry".
you should be able to do a lot of parts quickly and reduce the wasted acetone vapor loss with this method.

Not true I have the doctor bill and the scars to prove it. I was caught in an acetone bath explosion in my garage. I was writing on the shoutbox while I was waiting in the hospital room.

I think I was talking to you that day....
I'm thinking this is the safest thing to heat anything on.. I have 2 of these. They work great. Temp as low as 100. It doesn't get hot like conventional burners. I can boil water with a paper towel between pot and burner.. http://www.amazon.com/NuWave-PIC-30141-Precision-Cooktop/dp/B00DP6BJE2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1439347669&sr=8-1&keywords=nuwave+pic
If a magnet sticks to the pot or pan you want to use, it will work..

I agree with going with something like this, that's what I switched to after it happened which now allows me to move the pot away from the heat source to prevent anything like that from happening again.
