Layer shift

Howdy folks,

Yesterday I started printing my Iron man helmet and the print time was around 38 hours, after the print was done I noticed a layer shift midway in the print. When I first started printing I learned the solidoodle 3 did this quite a bit as the cable didn't have much slack when you traveled the full length of the bed and would pull the head causing a layer shift, I also had seen this being caused from the spools at times as well.

This was my first time seeing this on the Zortrax, anyone else ever had this happen to them on this printer?

do you mean something like this  :(

You're welcome. I check all pulleys screws from time to time.

Had my first issue with layer shift yesterday. I was printing 2 identical parts next to each other. The part to the right shifted, while the left part remained perfect. Each part has several start and stop points and every point was shifted perfectly on the right part. This would make me think the issue is in the software, not a hardware issue.

There's also this topic in the forum - http://forum.zortrax.com/index.php?/topic/627-this-is-a-new-one/

Its still a mystery to me.. it didint do it again (i've seen it happen about 3 times total), and a different printer printed the same Zcode without any problem.

Yeah doesn't look like anything was loose

looks like it's either due to the filament pulling the extruder or possibly the software (doubtful though)

Hello,

Please contact with the support ( http://zortrax.pl/support-form/ ) and attach photo, .zcode and .stl files - we will check if its software issue. However, XYZ maintenance + platform leveling ( http://support.zortrax.com/hc/en-us/sections/200316251-Video-Tutorials ) help in most cases like this.

Hi, today I had the same problem. Tomorrow I'll do some xyz maintenance and see if helps.

My print looks like this:

Edit: Problem solved. Tensioning belt on X axis helped.
