Mac and Printer problems

Hello. I was curious if any other Mac users are having issues with the Zsuite software and the .bin update for the zortrax?

I followed all the steps and even tried the suggestions on this forum and still can’t get the suite to run properly like in the manual.pdf. Also the printer doesn’t calibrate or see any files on the sd card. The bin file doesn’t unarchive for any program on the Mac, and I’ve tried quite a few. Lol

I emailed support but it’s the weekend just thought if ask if others are having issues as well. Thanks

Hey !

I’m a mac user, but I am still waiting for my printer…

I nevertheless know for a fact that that the printer doesn’t auto-calibrate, yet. IT will in a future update of the firmware…

You mean you transferred the firmware on the SD card and the printer doesn’t recognize it ?

Yes I downloaded the firmware and it unzipped into a .bin file which is zipped and won’t unzip anymore so I put on sd card and put in printer and it doesn’t show any files but under software in the printer is shows.0.0.2 but if you look at the manual it shows different steps that mine does not do. Even when calibrating is shows it displays numbers for the x,y,z and mine shows none of that.

So I’m guessing it didn’t actually update the printer.

i recommend to format your SD card, copy the bin file again, and retry.

No, that’s correct. There is no calibration in the current firmware. And you won’t see anything under “Models” until you put Zcode files on the card.

Here is what I get with suite. I actually cut part of the pic just cause its a design I don’t want out yet lol

As seen in the manual there are many other tools I don’t have. didn’t know if its just cause of beta version or if its an error.

The SD card has no files on it. You can download from Thingiverse or the Zortax Printroom. http://zortrax.com/printroom I would start with something simple. Try the Carabiner first. You will probably have to adjust the bed.

Oh ok so I put the code files on the sd card? Cause I tried plugging the usb printer cord to computer and printer and nothing shows up on my mac under printer or anything. went sure if the usb is updated.

Thanks for the help. I have read the forums but not real clear on whats working or not due to what the manual shows. lol I appreciate the help

Just Beta version right now.

Appreciate it. LOL I thought I broke it hahaha Gonna go print something. Cheers!

All good! Printing! You guys are great. Thanks again.

Hello

Good morning, I was having the same problem as describe above, I follow the instruction on the previous reply and download the additional files for Mac. Everything seems to work as the z suite open then prepared the object for print and save it as zcode, placed it on the SD card, load the filament, and then choose the object from the model menu. And here is the problem now. I saw the two object I have, but once I choose it and click on it the menus return to the beginning and the M200 do not do anything? Can someone help me, please let me know if there is an additional step or I’m missing something?

Thanks in advance

Mac is terrible if is about save files on the SD card, it sometimes keep files in the buffer instead of save directly on the SD Card.

With Mac OS due of it is based on the Linux then you have to ‘unmount’ drive first so always use “right” click on the SD drive and then choose “Eject” before removing card I remember how once I try to save .dfx file for laser cutting 4 times before I realised that “Eject” option is must to be using Mac OS.

Best Regards

Hello

Thanks for the prompt reply, I’m using the eject button on the Mac. Also on the Manu on the zortrax I see the 3 object that are saved, I move the dial to the correct file and then click on it, but it just go back to the previous menu and the machine will not start. It doesn’t matter which file I choose it does the same thing go back to previous menu,

Anything else I can check?

Thanks

Then something is messed with partition on the card, the best is to format memory card but as Mac user I have no idea how to format card on the Mac OS.

You can try to save other .zcode files on the SD card if nothing help then only formatting of SD Card can help.

Best Regards

Hello:

Thanks for the support…

Mac is NOT based on Linux. It is based on BSD  which is a very different Unix.

I also see that with regards to MacOS a lot. People seem to think that it is based on linux. Which it isn’t. MacOS has its own kernel, called Darwin. The rest of the OS is also not entirely like a linux distribution. Namely, where linux distributions generally are based on the FSF GNU software distribution for the ‘world’, MacOS stems from BSD, where the BSD distribution code is used, and only certain parts are taken from the GNU world (such as the GNU Compiler Suite).

Yeah Mac is definitely different but I think I would’ve stopped using computers years ago if I never found Mac. Windows may be easier to use or write programs for but it also has more problems than anything known to man (lol).

I really do appreciate the company for being so prompt and up to date. I didn’t think I would even have a Beta for Mac for another month or so. Thanks!!
