Metal Plating

Ooops  , I knew it was not very clever ....

Thanks for the link, It makes it possible to dream about it

It is a paint

or http://www.caswellplating.com/silvaspray-conductive-paint-8-oz.html

Copper is the much cheaper option obvisouly but not as conductive and contains stronger solvents

Yes techbuilder,

 Well I was thinking about this kind of paint http://fr.farnell.com/electrolube/scp03b/peinture-conductrice-a-l-argent/dp/725614 which seems to be very conductive <0.1ohm per cm and not very expensive.

I wonder if this process will be reliable

PS: sorry it's a french link

It is but it's not an extremly durabul coat so you will want to add several clear coats

Not if you intend to electroplate over it, lol!

Yes Julia it's the way I imagine to use it

These guys have just about everything anyone could possibly want in the way of electroplating stuff. Also lots of great how-to info and videos all over the site.

Thanks to Mike Henry for introducing me to them.

 Hum...

I will start with an 2A laboratory supply and a bowl of copper sulfate, and I will see.

no need to have the whole piece covered, I mean for small electrical contacts for electronic boxes

Bonne chance! :)

I'm talking about after electroplating Julia! lol

This looks interesting: Plating on Plastics

That is the same process we are referring to in this post

I'm just going to dunk my parts in molten aluminum... That should do it!!! :D

That’s how I do taxidermys!!

 Hum, just like this one ?

Probably too expensive for me

These guys seem to know what theyre doing - https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=splendor+pintura

Its not electroplating per say, but a propietary mix of paint and chemicals that gives the same apparent finish (only visual to my knowledge).

I ordered a kit from them and will try it soon and report on results, but dont see why it wouldnt work perfectly (after a lot of post work on the print of course).

P.S. Sorry its in spanish its a chemical engineer from Ecuador. I spoke to him on the phone, nice guy.

That's freaking amazing, thanks Isaac! He really should be salsa dancing while spraying, though, with that music :)

Are you looking for the metalizing just for the reflective effect or also for conducting electricity as well? Just for looks this also looks interesting.

You’re absolutely right—metal plating is only a few microns thick, so it can’t create a full shell. I recently started experimenting with this in a small tank at home, and it’s been a fascinating process. Cannon Industrial Plastics https://cannonindustrialplastics.com/ actually built me a custom polypropylene tank for the setup, and it’s working great! Very nice first trial on your end—really promising results. Out of curiosity, did you use vacuum plating or go with real electroplating?
