Model Boat

Some pictures of my latest model

250mm Length

All parts made on my Zortrax in Grey and Black ABS except very-very fine detail parts that i built on my SLA Machine.

Even the aerial wires are 0.4mm Black ABS extruded from the nozzle during material change.

All sanded and painted with acrylic paints

I also made -

Laser engraved and cut wood deck

Vinyl cut stripes and patchs

Wooden base

Aluminium turned support legs

How many hours of work (not printing time) did this take?

Very nice!

Not including print time -

6 hrs CAD time

+

approx 30 hrs work

ABS material is great to work with and finish.

to me it looks more like 300 hrs work with wood, acryl and alu...

is this just grey Z-ABS on the pic (sanded and smoothed how)?

Very Nice Model!!!!

You sure do have an arsenal of printers at your disposal.  Not jealous........

G

Very impressive work!!! :)

ITS A VERY GOOD WORK

to me it looks more like 300 hrs work with wood, acryl and alu...

is this just grey Z-ABS on the pic (sanded and smoothed how)?

Would also like to know your sanding method. Did you prime before painting? Were you using a plastic specific paint?

Looks really awesome.

many thanks for all the kind comments.

All ABS parts were built at 0.14 layer

Parts are set up on machine to give the least support structure best quality

After removing parts they are given light sand to remove most layer lines

1 light coat white primer then gently sand until grey ABS shows, this shows lines are being flattened.

Prime again with white primer then apply 2 coats final colour sanding between each coat.

Finished model is then given 1 coat of satin varnish to protect paint

See attached picture at prime stage and laser cut deck test fit
