My thoughts about M200

Couple of days ago i wanted to upgrade from an up mini and considered two options ultimaker 2 and m200. I went to my local reseller and they had both of them and I was impressed by m200 print quality. I bought the printer assembled it took about an hour. I installed the Z-Suit software and ran the thing I was disappointed immediately. I was not able to set pause points. I was not able to see how many layers there were. I loaded the output to the sd card and started printing. I was shocked when the estimated time left was not displayed on the unit nor the layer that its at. And the estimated time was off by 20 minutes. The second thing that annoyed me is the fact that no stats are shown in Z-Suit the damn thing has wi-fi doesnt it. Overall I'm happy with the unit but the software MUST be improved. If any zortrax employee reads this please improve the software. The hardware is over and beyond any of my expectations however the software is a lot worse than my expectations .
P.S please add an option to send the build plate to the lowest point.

You set the pause points after the zsuite slices the print. Then you hit the use the pause button in tools on the left side when looking at the Zcode.

And no there is no wifi anymore nor any expectations of wifi in the future....(sore subject)

Zortrax M20 is for Quality prints. If youn want "quick" prints then ultimaker will give you that but then you will have to deal with opens source Cura software which I have no thoughts on but have heard it is lacking.

Have you read the support documents and introductory videos on Zortrax site?

On a personal note-----I won't say what I am really thinking.

Cheers and Good luck

it is plug n play but 3D printing is more than just hitting a button and expecting perfection.

Hi

Ultimaker and Zortrax are quite different printers to use. The first, you can tweak nearly everything you want with software, Simplify 3D is amazing (Cura is not bad too), the second you slice, print and enjoy the result, it wil be ok most of the time (but if it is not, you nearly have no way to improve it)

EDIT: I think remaining time estimation displayed on open source printer is sent by the slicing software to the printer while printing (the software manages that). The only way M200 would  have to display it would be integrating some timestamps in ZCode during slicing.

I just saw the pause option my bad.

I'm not complaining about the print time. For example Z-Suit Says 6 hours as an estimated time and the print actually takes a lot more.

That's the problem nobody says what they rely thinking.

Yeah well, some people get offended by hearing what others really think. lol

Plus I am kinda brut.  :P

So editing myself is the best thing. hehehe

There is a lot more that can be done with this printer and the Zsuite may need tweaked to get the most out of printer but it has came a long way and I would still buy another if given the choice.

Though I am looking at the BigBox only for the print size.

That is what I would love to see...a M400, since the M200 has a 200mm print size a M400 would have 400mm print size. I would definitely save up and buy an M400 for sure! B)
