print a mesh with their bump map?

hi everyone,

does anyone know if it is possible to print a mesh with their bump map??

i'm a new user, i receve my m200 yesterday :D

so i try what it's possible or not

As far as I know a bump map is just an image file, similar to textures for rendering purpouses.

To  put thing very simple, if it is not modeled complety in 3d, every detail and it is visible without textures or bump maps it will not print.

Are you asking for how to print from an image, like a lithofane? If yes there are softwares to do exactly this: to read Grayscale values on an image and translate as z values on 3D. Also Rhino have a command for this, called heightfield if I remember correctly.

thanks guys,

i will try it with rhino

or found  a program who sculpt the mesh from an image in grayscal

This one has the most/best features AFAIK: http://www.ransen.com/phototomesh/

thank you Julia,

i've got download the démo version and it's prety cool with a logo or a drawing in black and white but it's not realy what i want.

i'm looking for a software who can do the same but with an object that i already texture and aply this texture to the mesh.

until i found it I went back to zbrush but it's tedious

If such software exists it will mean the end of the need of digital sculptors....

Did some research on this.. You are correct.. It is not a true 3D file.. It is all done with shading..

Yep I worked a lot years ago with Rendering applications where instead of modeling you can apply bump maps and textures to simulate threads, tires, etc. But it's just for visualization.

You have ArtCam... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sIwqGd6xpHM
