Program crash when generate zcode with my own drawing

Hi I use TickerCad draw the following object.

http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:245765/#files

I have loaded it into Zsuite 0.0.4 for Mac with no problem. However, when I generated the zcode, the program crashed.

I don’t know where is the problem since I can generate the zcode of the other objects downloaded from thingiverse.

Thanks a lot for any help.

It working correctly on windows version (Mac version should be same) I will check it also on the Mac when I get a chance today.

Best Regards

I don’t use Zsuite for Mac, on my MacBook. Because it is not nicely developed, it is just a portage. I had quite some bugs, while using it.

This might be one of your issue.

I prefer using parallel desktop and use the windows version, which is very good and never had issue.

I throw your file on Netfabb and Meshmixer to check for problems.

Netfabb didn’t saw any flaws but Meshmixer two small ones, this is the file repaired: https://www.dropbox.com/s/kzbxu5gwwhsbbbd/SpoolPart.stl

Just to put it clear, I have zero experience in 3D printing, just guessing what could be wrong if this happened to me (as I wait for my Zortrax!).

Hope it helps.

Thanks a lot. I will try your file.

I am new to 3D printing. Would you mind telling me what is the usage of Netfabb and Meshmixer? Are they 3D drawing programs?

I’m a newbie as you. Have some experience with Rhinoceros and Moi3D, two Nurb based Cad programs. Doing some sculptures like these: http://angelovenosa.com/obra/sem-titulo1.html#1 http://angelovenosa.com/obra/sem-titulo-2.html#1

Netfabb Basic and Meshmixer are free software for mesh editing and preparing for 3D printing. They analise the stl file and fix for better printing.

I don’t know how reliable they are as I never had a file printed.

Zortrax will be my first 3D printer.

Report: Zsuite for Mac again crashed with no luck.

I then install parallel desktop and windows 7. Zcode generated successfully with my STL. I think it is the problem of Zsuite for Mac. Thanks for all people that helping me. After this, I suggest using windows version too.

Angelo, your sculptures are amazing and beautiful. It is an honor to have you here on the forum and I hope we can be of some help in your journey into 3D printing.

Julia

Thank you Julia ! I’m learning a lot following this forum .

Not only technically. The ShoutBox is amazing (as a guy in the corner of a party , as I usually do in the physical world), imagining faces and characters for many users. It’s fun and instructive.

A few days ago I drew a small piece supposed to connect two blades of copper for a future art edition. This was intended to be my first zortrax piece. As I can not accurately estimate when I will receive the printer (and how soon I’ll be able to operate it reliably) I wondered PM you to do it for me. As a job. I could try to do it here, but will not be a genuine Zortrax : ).

But it was a foolish thought, it would be neither feasible nor in time or cost. When sent back to me it will get stuck in customs for a month - at least, and possibly be taxed .

Our import policy is a nightmare. Heavily taxed. It’s quicker if you use any courier (DHL, Fedex ), but in this case costs a lot more. The shipping is higher, You have 60% taxes over the summ (item+shipp) and plus 28% over item+shipp+first tax.

Resuming this boring accounting: Courier for expensive and sensitive items such as Zortrax . Postal service for indulgence shopping, like Chinese junk gadgets.

I tried to do some laser cut and engraved pieces in New York, looking for better raw material. Museum quality acrylic. Impossible… It’s only feasible if I sell the final pieces in USA or send to Europe. To Brazil… nada, necas, no way. Double the costs.

This finished to be a novel not a post!

Thank you again for the nice words!

@Angelo Wow! one of the most amazing and inventive uses of Wire pull ties and Perspex ever. Genius man! Welcome to the Zortrax Forum, and very soon i hope, you get your machine.

Thanks Andy!
