Random seam position makes a real mess

So I'm trying to print off a 3-part ring I found on Thingiverse.  When I print it with seam set to 'normal', the seam is very visible, so I thought I'd try random seam position.  It makes the following.  There are so many bumps on the random seam positions that the ring won't even fit together without a bunch of (ahem) post-processing, and even then it's really bumpy.

Is it possible that the retraction is backwards (extrude more when moving to a different position) when random seams are enabled?

Is there a way to fix this?

I'm running the PC version 1.3.0.0 Z-Suite for the rev 4 M200 on a Win7x64 machine, if that helps.

Firmware is 1.0.0 on the M200, FWIW

Thanks!

Random seam always caused me blobs and stringing over all versions, but I feel like more users are complaining about it since 1.2 or 1.3.

You could give older Z-Suite versions a try.

I cannot tell because I do not use 1.3 yet.
