Shapeways VS Zortrax

So I ordered a part from Shapeways that I'm currently selling using my M200.. Here are the results.. Holes are a little cleaner, finish is a little rougher, resolution lines are better, and it seems to weigh a little more..  I used .19 though.. not sure what they use as default.. Dimensions seem about the same on both.. Had nothing but praise from the ones printed on the Zortrax!! Just figured I'd share.. IVX5MZ.jpgqYKJOa.jpg41lraq.jpgpGkuz1.jpg

come on Kyle, you have to praise the M200 printed part?

really?

Interesting, what process is the Shapeway item made by (FDM etc.)?

I'm pretty sure Shapeways uses mostly SLS, except for the multi-color stuff which is Objet. Note the absence of any seams.

WoW, that Shapeways piece looks amazing. I doubt its a desktop printer.

Good test Kyle,

If it is not indiscreet, what is your selling price for this piece?

How many have you bought this piece Shapeways?

I made the same comparison in France with a printed piece by Sculpteo (SLS polyamide), and mine printed Ultimaker 2 and M200

Here they are !

Exactly the same STL in the 3 case

Sculptéo SLS polyamide

Zortrax + Ztemp + PLA 190 µ

Ultimaker + Simplify + same PLA 200 µ

From my point of view :

Contrast and picture resolution : everything is better with FDM printing (from far !)

The printing seems of lower quality on Ultimaker but it’s only because of a under extrusion.I printed other parts of this type with much better results on this machine.

Finally contrast and image definition are better with Ultimaker but this is mainly due to better slicing by Simplify3D VS Z-suite.

Z-suite removes a lot of detail and “smooth” too trajectories of the machine, this point is visible in the pre-visualization before printing

I sell them for $10 plus shipping.. Shapeways was $11 plus shipping. Only purchased one from SW as a quality test.

But what about the prints, how do they look / feel, it cannot be told from the pictures?

People who see these prints say :"Wowwww" ! :)

* I keep the bite of my ear preciously in a drawer waiting to make a copy in 3D

the shapeways print was maybe post processed... sand blasting?

best

Andreas

Kyle stupid question; but what is the part supposed to do?

looks like its been sand blasted to me

It should be SLS printed.
