I have used a printer M200 for years and rarely updated the software as everything was working fine. A few months ago I got the M200 Plus and updated the z-suite software.
For a while it worked ok, but now the Printing Profiles I saved (I always work with external PLA based materials) have disappeared from the z suite, AND the possibility to use 0.09 (or 0.10) layer thickness is gone. It happened suddenly, before everything worked.
I tried disinstalling, reinstalling, turning off the computer, installing an older version, the issues are there regardless.
Hi E, you can’t save printing profiles for external materials. layer thickness below 0.15 has been erased in the newest softwares too. I don’t think anybody will be able to find solutions I’m sorry
I tried I but could not find a .config folder under /User/myname/
What I found was /Users/myname/Zortrax/Files but there was no file I could see there , even if I tried to save profiles even this morning… I’m a bit lost , need to find a solution Thanks !
Are you looking with Finder? Because Finder hides the .config directory by default. You can reveal hidden files by pressing
Command + Shift + . (dot)
Eventually, you can navigate there by Terminal. Just open terminal, and type
open “/Users/[YOUR USER NAME]/.config/Zortrax/Profiles”
Yes, I’ve been looking with finder and used the command you suggested but could not find any file and more importantly I still can’t save any new profile. I did cancel Z suite with Cleanmy mac to make sure everything would be removed and made a new clean installation. Still could not save any profile. I tried installing Z suite on Mac like mine (with M1 processor) that never had Z suite installed before, both with Sonoma OS (diff. releases), and on that Mac the profile saving worked !
Now I have a couple of doubts : in the past I had installed Mono on my Mac, (it is not on the second Mac where everything worked) than removed it.
Is Mono framework needed or better to have with Z-suite on this Mac / OS ?
Can it be some leftover from Mono I deleted that causes the issue ?
(I only trashed it , did not use terminal with all command line to delete it)
@eugenio I’m glad you’ve dealed with that issue
Your theory on what caused it might be correct. If there was no .config directory, maybe it was removed alongside Mono or maybe CleanMyMac nuked it during its work.
As for Mono itself, its only needed for older versions of Z-Suite and macOS.
Yes at least I know Z suite should work, but unfortunately for now it is still only on my friend mac, that I can’t use for my work… was just a test…
Any suggestion on the steps to take , considering all the above, in order to finally get to something like the new clean install we had on my friend mac that works fine ?
If the “.config” directory does not exist in your home directory (/Users/[YOUR USER NAME]), then try to create it (remember about the dot! Finder will show warning, but you can proceed). Z-Suite should set up the “Zortrax/Profiles” directory on its next startup right there.
Then try to save your print settings, and let me know whether it works.
It worked! I had a few issues because it wouldn’t let me add a file with the dot, I had to first show the hidden files, then create the folder (at this point it still gave me a warning but let me create it) and it finally works!
About the 0.9 layers I have found a workaround: instead of using the External Material > PLA Based, I am now using External Marerial > PLA PRO Based. I think it should be fine because I always tweak all the settings anyways so the name of the material shouldn’t matter if I change all the settings myself (I use PLA of various brands, it always worked on 0.9 prints). Do you think this might crate any issues?
