I also had a couple of times this situation. I think it creates randomly after loosening filament, if are careless is the end of the filament could get under the other coils.
That sucks! I ruined a 6 hr print with that issue. Only happened with white so far.

It would be great if there was a way we could trigger a pause function (other than ejecting the SD Card!), so we could hook up a tangle sensor to it :)

Sometimes it happens, in all other 3rd filament manufacturers, even in Stratasys catridges.
Happened to me once.. Not bad considering I've printed hundreds of items..
Its happened to me 3 times in the same spool of Ultrat.. contacting support.
