Well, printing is on hold for now. My wife has complained about the smell. Truth is I notice it too, I just think I have gotten used to it. Check out what I picked up at The Home Depot. Just a thought but it fits perfectly, is transparent, cheap and really doesn’t look that bad. It’s a little tall for what I need but won’t cost too much to experiment. It fits perfectly on top and has a nice space at the back for the tube and wires. I will have to come up with a mounting solution but that won’t be too hard. I may try cutting it down a bit too. The Home Depot also has polycarbonate and acrylic so it will be a one stop shop, although I will have to go back now so that would be a two stop shop :). Then I have to get an exhaust fan.
I plan to put the printer somewhere near the fan. I don’t want to suck all that beautiful hot air out too fast. The printer will not be 100% air tight. I am hoping that will solve the smell problem and help with warpage as a bonus. I have a window near the printer and am hoping to make an insert and get a small fan or washroom exhaust and just place the printer in front of the exhaust so whatever fumes leak out will hopefully be evacuated.
Dhatw.
[quote name=pilou74]not a bad idea, actually ! where are you going to put the fan ? on top ?

[quote name=pilou74]Your printer is in your living room ?
Mine is. And it’s true the smell is really here. But I got used to it. And my wife too. Even though she sometimes makes some remarks…

No, it is in our office. The problem is I close the door for printing and when you open it the smell hits you right in the face. I also have the ceiling heater vent mostly closed so as not to introduce unwanted drafts and it gets a little chilly at this time of year. So full enclosure is a win, win.
