Z-SUITE 1.8.0 feedback

Continued from Z-SUITE 1.8.0 Released

Hi Marcin,

Could you upload it to WeTransfer or any other hosting?

I made this block showing same result (original part is from outside client, so I can't sent STL)

In version 1.8.0, bridge in hole doesn't generate

in version 1.7.2.1, bridge in hole generates

Support lite and smart bridges off for both.

Thanks again and hope it helps

btw. seems that bug is fixed (SB & SL OFF)

Awesome!

Why there is no bug fixes from previous version described here: http://forum.zortrax.com/index.php?/topic/2824-zsuite-172-from-the-frying-pan-into-the-fire/page-2

Why there is no top layers setting back?

Looks fixed in 1.8.1?

On the pod model, the holes appear to be fully supported.

On the henio model, the contour fill looks like how it used to be?

Zortrax doing updates for each file separately? Looks like they have serious issues with testing procedures. Henio was example. There are lot of projects where walls are splitted. Z-Suite 1.7.1 was last version where walls was working normal.
Here are another exaples with same bug in 1.8.1

Also without top layers setting is useless. Why Zortrax doesn’t care of all arguments (not only mine) on retreiving top layers in this thread: http://forum.zortrax.com/index.php?/topic/2824-zsuite-172-from-the-frying-pan-into-the-fire/page-2 ?

- we want to set more top layers as a way to increase stiffness, reduce pillowing effect etc.
- we would set less top layers to increase speed and reduce costs for test prints
- it strongly depends on model... for eg I can upload you file where it always peel off the raft because too many top layers cause to much shrinking (with auto top layer setting). With manually set less layers it prints fine
- if someone doesn't know how to use layers setting doesn't have to use advanced options and plug and play idea is still met
So Zortrax why are you so obstinate with auto top layers?

I think the hole support issue is resolved.

I can see the henio result is larger issue than the single file now, I'm not sure if they were aware of that or not. Anyway I dont think it was filed in the bug tracker so I added for you http://forum.zortrax.com/index.php?/tracker/issue-190-missing-wall-infill/

i like this version

GREAT VERSION !!

BUT ,,, WHEN RUNNING A COUPLE PARTS NOTICED HALF WAY THRU PART IT SOUNDED LIKE JET ENGINE.

I NEVER USE AUTO FAN SO I TURN IT OFF,

THE SOUND I HEARD WAS SO LOUD , I HOPE MY FANS DONT BLOW UP !

NEVER HEARD FANS SO LOUD.

WHEN ITS RUNNING THE RAFT ITS NOT LOUD , AND THEN GOES TO SUPER FAST AND VERY LOUD, CAN ONLY BE FANS...

I think auto off gives you partial control of the fan, not full. There was a change in 1.8.0 to reduce pillowing effects by increasing fan speed to 100%. Mine are louder but it's not disturbing. If the fan is totally screaming, maybe a bearings going out on one of the fans?

Patience.

BUGS reported. Please, provide me that model

Most likely fan is damaged. Check through the menu which one is causing the issues and buy yourself a replacement (its cheap as duck, I recommend you Noctua nf-a4x10-flx 12V

)

Wow what a support recommendation! Go fix it yourself :) . (sarcasme). If your replacing the fan have a look at the dual fan designs and order one more.

Indeed turning off auto fan doesn't disable that weird new behavior. For some models like the benchy this can result in the fan running at 100% more or less all the time even though a fixed value like 20% was selected (see attached graph).

I think the problem is that (at least in fixed fan mode) everytime the slicer detects a top surface (even if it's top infill), it will ramp up the fan to 100% in the layer above that. Since the benchy has a lot of top surfaces, this results in 100% most of the time.

The surprising thing is than auto fan actually creates a lower mean fan speed than a 20% fixed fan speed in this case.

I haven't used fixed fan mode yet but that doesn't sound quite right. So far my results have been fine with autofan though.

I’m trying to be human. FAN isn’t covered by warranty and buying it from us is pointless (due to its price)

Noctua is a good fan company.

When looking for alternate replacement fans, what is the acceptable current limit on a replacement fan?

What do you mean by current limit?

What do you mean by current limit?

The maximum current that the control board can supply to the fans without being damaged.
