While Z-Suite has no native version for GNU/Linux operating systems, it is entirely possible to run it through compatibility layer of Wine. This guide will provide tips of how to do just that.
This method was tested on Linux Mint 22, and is not guaranteed to work on any other distribution
- Make sure, you have the latest version of wine and winetricks installed (this guide was made with version 9.0 of Wine in mind)
- Download the Windows version of Z-Suite from Support Centre
- Download the Wine Mono package
- Open the terminal and run the winetricks command.
- Select your wineprefix and chose the “Install a font” option
- I recommend selecting the “all fonts” option (for more info on winetricks, refer to this guide)
- Close the winetricks window, and type wine uninstaller in the terminal window.
- In the uninstaller window press the Install button, and select the Wine Mono package you should have downloaded.
- Once the installation completes, close the uninstaller window.
- In the terminal, navigate to the directory containing the Z-Suite installer and type wine name_of_z_suite_installer.exe (for example wine Z-SUITE_v3.6.0_Win.exe)
- Follow the steps of the installation wizard normally.
Once the installer finishes, you should be able to use Z-Suite just like on the Windows machine.
Important: due to how diverse GNU/Linux installations could be, we cannot provide any more technical support to running Z-Suite on Linux distributions through official Zortrax Support channels. Something that may work on one machine, might not run on the other.
From now on, this thread is only place for discussions regarding running Z-Suite on Linux. You might post your questions and offer help to other users.
