I am printing large models which essentially are square like shapes on almost all the platform. With ABS the model really doesn't hold its shape with Light Infill and cracks all the time.
With UltraT the cracks are minimized although the model still warps a bit on the sides. But if i choose UltraT in the settings then i can only print with 0.19mm of lower in the latest Z-suite 9.6.
I was wondering if it is possible to use the "ABS" setting in the program to set the layer height to something like 0.29 or even 0.39mm but use the UltraT filament.
Would this be possible?
It's just that the prints take almost 20 - 24 hours for each piece and i really want to cut time. What would happen if i do it this way? Will it actually print fine or it will make things worse?
It’s hard to archive good quality on higher layers on Z-Ultrat due to material properties. However, we did some successful test on Z-HIPS on layer 0.29, so we will try to add this layer as option in new release of Z-Suite.
Nope. No go. Atlas standing up so I can get the smooth finish on the sides. So I am laying it down. The support is sticking like glue. Ive not seen that before with this ultrat It is 3/4 into the spool, maybe it got moisture in it...hmmm
Sometimes a new nozzle works wonders. I had mysterious gaps in some UltraT prints similar to those in your photo (but at 190u). Installed a fresh nozzle and the gaps went away.
Thanks Julia. The nozzle and hot end is maybe 2 months old.
I printed the same model at .09 laying flat and besides the top and bottom not as smooth as the sides it came out great. But standing up it came out like crap where I print it with Zabs standing up it comes out perfect.
I have an extra nozzle and I'll give it a shot when I try again.
It would be nice to have ultrat support that isn't a pain to take off. Some of the support actually adheres to the actual object ruining the finish.
Has anyone found an easy ZUltrat support removal? Cause I found that the more support I have on this print the better the print, but removing the support is another issue.
