Comparison of 3D printers

I'll start prepare a publications about available 3D printers, my goal is a compare a few feature, such like:

- print quality

- print speed

- user-friendly

- standalone solution

- cost of purchase device

- cost of purchase filament

In next week, I'll receive DaVinci and Up! 2 printer and I'll start prepare printers to tests :) If you want see some printers which is not exist in this battle - just let me know :)

I´m very interested in the result of your publication, but I think you have already placed the winner in the middle... :D

Wth! You are addicted my friend! I am not jealous at all...  But i love what you are about too doo. What kind off prints do you have in mind? I draw up a small piece that i want too print good for my next printer. It highlights some problem areas as resonance/ringing and bottom radius/slopes. I know it is hard for any printer to do this well, not just Zortrax. I used settings in pic below.

Trhuster I'll print this part for you :) If someone will have any cool parts to print just upload it on this thread :)

Can't wait for results! Challenge accepted and place your bets guys.

+1 for Zortrax!

try some very large parts, some very tiny parts. And parts with overhangs ans the one thruster posted is nice. Also some thin shells to see if they really fill the paths. I have found sometimes software in Zortrax lies about what the machine is going to do. Giving an undesired result not with quality or unexpected factors. Just with infill, on the software it is filled on the real part it is not . Specially with thin sections of around 1.5mm

You might want to reset the eeprom, because I've read filament is bad quality.

One more just for the fun off it, Zortrax for sure has perfect vertical layers imo.

Very nice thing you are going to do. I wish I had this comparison published before I purchased a printer but fortunately I still think I did the right choice. Looking forward to the results. 👍

I'm back

After several days of battle with new Makerbot Replicator Mini "Smart" extruder - after one small print extruder was clogged :| I decided that I conducted two tests, first test will include printers that support ABS:

- Ultimaker 2

- Zortrax M200

- UP! Plus 2

- Stratasys Dimension SST 1200 - I need to wait on new extruder, because the support material was clogged between extruder and nozzle and totally damaged extruder

- DaVinci - the printer has been excluded from the test because the prints quality is terribly poor

FIRST SIMPLE TEST:

Model: Elf Hut -> http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:33974

Info: All printers are new, and all settings is maximum similar

Tomorrow I'll edit this post and I'll put more detailed information and photos.

I hope that Ultimaker will do better job in PLA :)

Overall Zortrax looks the best, no doubt. But ringing/ghostning is more visible on Zortrax, i wish we had a way in z-suite so we can reduce acceleration.

It’s better to call Ultimaker’s support, something wrong here.

I wrote on their forum, which question about some advices but don't know why they deleted my post

If you post at Ultimaker forum for the first three times or something like that a moderator must approve it before it is visible to others.

Makes sense, thanks :)
