I need a second extruder

Couldn't we use the Eye Fi or Transcend WiFi SD Card as a step forward in WiFi direction, until Zortrax programs their wifi adapter firmware?

If this can act as an "ftp" server or whatever, we could at least save files TO it, and then head to the printer and choose the file to print.

Just a thought...

Either way your walking over to the printer. I, personally, don't find the current set up terribly inconvenient. In fact, I take comfort in the fact that when I start a new print that I have a chance to verify that all is good with the machine.

I program for a large (60" x 144") laser and have seen the "untended machine" catch fire on several occasions...even though the machine manufacturer touts "lights out" capabilities.

I have also had times when I do my "preprint inspection" that I discover that I have to do clean up that I missed from a previous job.

I don't mind walking to the printer, per se; in fact I'm I'm usually sitting in front of it, and yes, I always check and clean between prints. I just hate fishing for the darned card slot in the PC and having to open a new Explorer window every time I want to rename or move files. If the directorywas always there and open it'd be a huge convenience. "Sneakernet" went out with the '80s, and the only reason it's been brought back is that the original reprap developers didn't have the chops to implement USB.

To be able to "name" the file before it goes to the SD card would be nice. I don't know if there is a setting on the machine for the sort field but the last file saved is always at the top file list when choosing the model to print...for me anyway. I mostly have been printing multiple models in a single run and the output file is always named the same as the last model brought into Z-Suite.

Agree 110%. Sometimes I save different versions (different settings or different number of object copies) from the same Z-Suite session, and if I don't rename the original on the card first, it gets overwritten.

+1.

I'll try to see how it works and then post a little how-to.

My problem is not when I am at home, but when I am not. While I can instruct someone at home to potentially click a knob and choose a file, having them load the zcode file to the sd card then put it in the printer is a bit too much :)

Just helping the "Mechanical Turk" :)

You can on Windows.. Use "save as" then select SD as destination. Not sure about Mac.

Good point, Kyle! I always hit "Save to SD card" because it sounds more convenient, lol.

Just throwing it out there.. :D

which I found via this:

Very nice! I shall do it, and by the time I am done Zortrax will have WiFi firmware ready and activated :)

As I am considering to buy a M200, I wonder why there are no statements made by Rafal or other company members? It appears, that long therm users are not taken very seriuos. Have some of the mentioned promised aspects been implemented?

- wifi

- speed control

- temperature control

Cheers,

Philipp

I would rather get answers from the community and the occasional "reach around" from the Staff here than have the staff spend all day answering questions here and not be working on actually upgrading the M200.

I think Zortrax is top notch but I really hadn't had any experience with any other machine. I had done a lot of research on printers and chose Zortrax on Kickstarted after asking a slew of questions.

If you look at the capabilities of the printer, you can't find one with the same for under 5k. Granted some of the things are not implemented yet but it is capable.

Just like it is capable of reaching higher temps than some of the other machines. I asked other companies about printing temps of 300c and their machines are incapable but Zortrax has the capabilities just not the programming yet.

I see a second extruder as kinda cool but also more of a chance for down time as double the chance of malfunction. One day I will have a machine like that but after I make enough to open my own brick store front. lol (may be a while ha)

Got my Flashair card and changed the config file to act as a device on the LAN. I can write files to it wirelessly when it's plugged into a computer or my camera, but I don't see it on the network when it's plugged into the M200; maybe the housing of the printer is interfering with the wifi.

Hmm, or the printed does not actually provide enough current to power the radio in it as well as other stuff...
